IWhen a frustrated former Mardi Gras king eats his wife's ancestral gumbo
recipe and is transported to an alternate New Orleans run by Black Mardi
Gras royalty, he must choose between a world of equity and progress without
his beloved wife or returning to fight inequities alongside her.
Through magical realism and social commentary, "Mardiverse"
explores an alternate reality where Black culture and
leadership reign supreme in New Orleans.
After consuming his wife's ancestral gumbo recipe,
Neville Bro finds himself in a transformed city where
the Leah Chase Superdome dominates the skyline and
systemic inequities have been eliminated.
However, his utopian discovery is complicated by his
wife's deadly allergy to the transformative ingredient,
forcing him to choose between personal happiness and
collective advancement.
The series blends fantastical elements with
serious social commentary, using the
spectacle of Mardi Gras culture to examine
questions of progress, sacrifice, and the
true cost of systemic change.
